David Wilkie

David Wilkie (born 1954, Scotland) was an Olympic and Commonwealth Games champion in swimming in the 1970s. He was said to be the first swimmer to wear a head-cap and goggles together in competition to improve the streamline effect within the water.

His major competition achievements were:

1972 Munich Olympic Silver medallist (200m breaststroke), 1976 Montreal Olympic Gold and Silver Medallist (200m and 100m breaststroke respectively).

1970 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist (200m breaststroke), Christchurch (NZ) Commonwealth Games Silver and Gold medallist (100m and 200m breaststroke.

His swimming coach was Dave Haller.
